Owner, Chief Executive Officer
Jullina, a communications and project manager and creative entrepreneur, had years of experience trying to assimilate into the bureaucratic, political world of corporate America. She had worked for startups and Fortune 50 companies, alike, and what she found was “that world operates like a machine, cranking out robot replicas of the 'model' employee.” She continued, “But those environments are often mentally taxing for those who don’t fit the mold: creatives and free thinkers, members of the LGBTQ community, immigrants, people with natural hair or locs, or tattoos, the list goes on… My goal is to create a family- oriented company culture that celebrates what makes us all unique."
Anthony, a moving truck driver who had work experience in every tough job from roofing to construction masonry, knew what it felt like to be “cheap seasonal labor.” He would be hired during the busy season, then laid off when the pipeline dried up. “I did whatever I needed to in order to support my family,” he said. “I became a hard worker in the process. I also learned that there are a lot of small things management can do to show appreciation for the back-breaking labor the front-line employees put in. All it takes is to treat employees like real people. Actually thank them for their work, and let them know that you are in their corner when they need support."
Together, they formed Metro Moving Ltd. Co. Using her knowledge of visual communications and business processes, and his experience in the moving industry, and labor operations, they had the secret sauce to create something fresh. With the backbone and know-how of a blue-collar company, the out-of-the-box thinking of a creative, and the efficiency and structure of a business manager, this is not your grandpa’s moving company.
